[6]In Oneida County, election officials from the towns of Lee, Sangerfield and Verona incorrectly transcribed the returns for Abram Camp as Abraham Camp, which resulted in Henry Huntington being issued the election certificate. He was listed in the Journal of the New York Assembly, as a member from Oneida County when the Legislative session convened. Abram Camp petitioned the Committee of Privileges and Elections in the Legislature and after reviewing the facts, the committee awarded him the votes mistakenly given to Abraham Camp and concluded that he was entitled to his seat.
[7]The Utica Patriot (Utica, NY) May 21, 1816 and the Columbian Gazette May 21, 1816 both list 2562 votes for Henry Huntington and 2543 votes for Thomas Walker, but doing the addition with the town figures as shown, gives the above totals.
[8]The town's original name was Orange, formed April 3, 1807 but was changed to Bengal April 6, 1808, and finally to Vienna April 12, 1816, only a month before the election. Reports of the election results still listed it as Bengal.
