[2]"A letter from John McCarty, a delegate from this county was also laid before the house, announcing his refusal to take the oath required by the act against dwelling . . . A new writ of election was ordered to supply the vacancy." The Genius of Liberty (Leesburg, VA). December 22, 1818.
[3]"In consequence of the disqualification of Mr. McCarty to serve in the legislature, a new writ of election was granted, and yesterday was the day appointed to supply the vacancy, when Geo.
