[1]Elected.
[2]"John Lytle, junr. is elected to the assembly by Mercer, Crawford [and etc.] counties." Aurora. General Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA), October 30, 1804.
[3]All newspapers consulted list John Lytle, Jr. as the candidate elected. However, it should be noted that among the several histories of the counties in this district (and even within one volume), there are discrepencies concerning the election or the assembly members listed from 1801 to 1806. The candidate that is listed in some sources as elected in years that vary between 1804 and 1808 is Wilson Smith. In all of the histories he is designated as the successor to John Lytle, Jr. as state representative. There is no information concerning alternate candidates in the 1804 election, in any of the sources. It is not known if John Lytle, Jr. and Wilson Smith ever ran against each other in a single election for state representative.
