[1]Three ballots were cast on December 5 and six more ballots were cast on December 6 before John Gilmore was finally elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives. 95 members of the House were present to participate in the voting, with William Lehman of Philadelphia and John Withrow of Fayette being absent.
