[2]"On Monday the third inst. being the day on which the General Assembly were to meet; a quorum of the House of Representatives appeared and took their seats-proceeded by ballot to elect a Speaker. On counting, an equal number of votes appeared in favour of Mr. Edmund Bullock and Mr. Thomas Davis-the election was then determined by lot, in favour of Mr. Edmund Bullock."
