Notes:
[1]Elected.
[2]Jacob Sommer is listed in some sources as Jacob Sommers.
[3]There are a small discrepencies (usually of 1 to 2 votes, if any) in the totals for Jacob Sommer and John Porter listed by individual townships in District 1. The totals listed by county and the entire district are more consistent, but the city of Philadelphia has a discrepency of 100 votes. The votes totals as listed for this election here are consistent with the Original Election Returns vote total of 5266, and the totals listed in the majority of other sources.
[4]The Political and Commercial Register (Philadelphia, PA), October 9, 1805 is the only newspaper which provides totals by Ward within the city and they add up to 2046 votes for Jacob Sommer. The True American and Commercial Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 10 lists for Jacob Sommer with 2046 votes and the Aurora from October 10 lists him with 2036, while other sources list Jacob Sommer with 2146 votes in the city. The latter, 2146, is consistent with the total of 5,266 for the entire district as reported in the Original Election Returns. Pennsylvania State Archives, Harrisburg.
[5]Jacob Sommer's vote total in Philadelphia County is often reported as 2003 votes, however the individual township and populated place totals listed in the Poulson's American Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 16, show that his total in the county should be 2002 votes. Other sources report totals which often include majority numbers and not actual vote totals, producing different reported results.
[6]The individual township and populated place totals listed in the Poulson's American Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 16, add up to 2002 votes for Jacob Sommer, however, it lists 2003 as the county total (as do the majority of other sources). The discrepency is possibly due to Northern Liberties being listed as 756 votes rather than the 757 reported in most other sources for Northern Liberties. Earlier editions of the American Daily Advertiser, from October 9 and October 10, provide a breakdown of the votes from East Northern Liberties and West Northern Liberties which add up to 757.
[7]Some other sources report totals which include majority numbers and not actual vote totals, producing different reported results.
[8]Several sources attribute these votes to the populated place of Bustleton. Often these votes are listed as Sommer's majority, and not as an actual vote total for the district.
