[6]Most newspaper results only list votes by ticket, not by individual candidates.
[7]"Scattering votes, principally Federal, 1337." The Courier of New Hampshire (Concord, NH). September 30, 1802.
[8]"The whole number of candidates was 62." Farmer's Museum, or Lay Preacher's Gazette (Walpole, NH). October 5, 1802.
[9]"There were also votes from several towns, which were not returned and certified according to law, and therefore not included in the above number - Federal, 1046 - Demo. 393." The Courier of New Hampshire (Concord, NH). September 30, 1802.
[10]Gilsom, Marlboro, Packersfield, Stoddard, Sullivan and Surry combined for 377 votes for the Federalist ticket and 3 votes for the Republican ticket.
[11]The Farmer's Museum, or Lay Preacher's Gazette (Walpole, NH) lists the Federalists as the Washington ticket and the Republicans as the Jefferson ticket.
[12]Because most newspapers only listed the votes by tickets, the town votes in Cheshire County, Grafton County and Hillsborough County exceed the listed total in these counties for Thomas Cogswell. It is likely that many of the votes were instead cast for Obed Hall.
[13]The United States Oracle, and Portsmouth Advertiser (Portsmouth, NH), Farmer's Museum, or Lay Preacher's Gazette (Walpole, NH) and New-hampshire Sentinel (Keene, NH) list the Federalist ticket with 54 votes.
[14]The Dartmouth Gazette (Hanover, NH) reports 75 votes for the Federalist ticket in Marlborough.
[15]The New-hampshire Sentinel (Keene, NH) lists the Federalist ticket with 1 vote.
[16]The New Hampshire Gazette (Portsmouth, NH) lists the Federalist ticket with 87 votes and the Republican ticket with 23 votes; these are the same results initially listed in the Courier of New Hampshire (Concord, NH), which would be corrected in a later issue.
[17]The New-hampshire Sentinel (Keene, NH), September 4, United States Oracle, and Portsmouth Advertiser (Portsmouth, NH), September 11, and the The Virginia Gazette, and General Advertiser (Richmond, VA), September 18, report 52 votes for the Republican ticket in Walpole.
[18]The Dartmouth Gazette (Hanover, NH), September 18, reports 34 votes for the Federalist ticket and 4 votes for the Democratic ticket in Grafton.
[19]The Dartmouth Gazette (Hanover, NH) and the Courier of New Hampshire (Concord, NH) list Samuel Hunt with 98 votes, Clifton Claggett with 97 votes, Silas Betton with 97 votes and David Hough with 97 votes.
[20]The Virginia Gazette, and General Advertiser (Richmond, VA), September 18, reports 1 vote for the Democratic ticket in New Chester.
[21]The United States Oracle, and Portsmouth Advertiser (Portsmouth, NH) and The New Hampshire Gazette (Portsmouth, NH) list the Federalist ticket with 13 votes.
