[1]"On Saturday, (November 10th) information was received by the Senate from a member in his place, that the Lieutenant Governor had departed this life on the preceding evening, whereupon a resolution was moved, declaring that chair constitutionally filled by the pro-tempore appointment made on Thursday, which after considerable debate, was negatived. Those who voted in the affirmative, 9, and those who voted in the negative, 15. The Senate then proceeded to the appointment of a Speaker Pro-Tempore ... and on taking the votes they stood thus:" The Palladium (Frankfort, KY). November 17, 1804.
[2]"There not being a majority of the whole number of members present in favour of any one of the gentlemen nominated, the senate proceeded to a second vote for Green Clay and Thomas Posey, they having the highest number of votes." The Guardian of Freedom (Frankfort, KY). November 14, 1804.
