[7]"A letter from a gentleman in Tennessee, to his friend in Alexandria, dated S. West Point, Novermber 16 says...'Mr. Dixon is elected a Representative in Congress by a majority of 500 votes.'" American. And Baltimore Daily Advertiser (Baltimore, MD). December 14, 1801.
[8]"Dr. William Dickson is elected a Representative to Congress, from this State by a mojority of upwards of 400 votes. At this election, important as it is, we are sorry to find that so few votes have been taken." The Intelligencer, and Weekly Advertiser (Lancaster, PA). Dec. 9, 1801. The Knoxvill Gazette says the majority is 537.
