The mode of election is, for the Council to ballot seperately for a candidate, and the House also separately...The two houses thus agreeing in the nomination, the Hon. [4]Extract of a letter from a gentleman in Vermont, dated October 21, 'Our Legislature, which is now in session, has convinced us of its federalism by again electing Mr. Paine to represent us in the Senate of the United States. Gen. Bradley was the democratic candidate. Mr. Paine obtained a majority of 34'.
