[5]Separate announcements were published in several newspaper for Charles Hammond and Rev. Enoch Mudge, but they were never included on the endorsed tickets for either party. The Eastern Argus (Portland, ME) of March 24, 1814 announced that Enoch Mudge had declined and support for Charles Hammond diminished once newspapers published the endorsed Federalist ticket. As this district was very large, the above information in some area may not have been known and these individuals may have still received support.
