[6]Stephen Longfellow, Thompson J. Skinner, Enoch Titcomb, Jonathan Maynard, Thomas Dwight, and William Aspinwall were elected on the first ballot but declined to serve in the Council. Further ballots were held on June 1.

Longfellow, Skinner, Titcomb, Maynard, Dwight and Aspinwall having declined accepting seats in the Council; the two Houses yesterday met in convention for the purpose of choosing at large six Counsellors in their room.
