Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]"In the room of John B. C. Lucas, resigned." Kline's Carlisle Weekly Gazette (Carlisle, PA). November 1, 1805.
[3]The returns listed here are higher than what are often reported for this district. The difference is accounted for by the votes from Wolf Creek in Mercer County. Officially, the votes were either rejected or not returned in time and not included in official vote totals. However, the votes are incuded in these totals in order to recount, as accurately as possible, the voters' intention in this election. Without including Wolf Creek, several sources list Samuel Smith with 3275 votes, James O'Hara with 2263 votes, and Nathaniel Irish with 681 votes.
[4]Allegheny County totals reported in sources remain consistent, with one exception. The Die Harrisburger Morgenrothe (Harrisburg, PA) from October 19 does not include votes from Fayette, Deer or McKeesport Townships.
[5]Even though the totals for Allegheny County do not vary (when all townships are listed in a source), sources report township variations of 1 to 7 votes for Ohio, Reedsburg and St. Clair Townships within the County.
[6]The Commonwealth (Pittsburgh, PA) from October 16 lists Samuel Smith with 50 votes in Ohio Township, however, it reports the same total for him as other sources report for Allegheny County (923).
[7]The Commonwealth (Pittsburgh, PA) from October 16 lists James O'Hara with 14 votes in Ohio Township, however, it reports the same total for him as other sources report for Allegheny County (998).
[8]Reedsburg is also known as Mifflin township.
[9]The Tree of Liberty (Pittsburgh, PA) from October 15 lists Samuel Smith with 97 votes in Reedsburg, however, it reports the same total as other sources report for Allegheny County (923).
[10]The Commonwealth (Pittsburgh, PA) from October 16 lists Samuel Smith with 130 votes in St. Clair, however, it reports the same total for him as other sources report in Allegheny County (923).
[11]Several sources report Samuel Smith with 454 votes, James O'Hara with 122 votes, and Nathaniel Irish with 159 votes. The vote total reported here includes the votes from Wolf Creek township.
[12]These votes were either rejected or not returned in time and were not included in official vote totals.
[13]The returns for Venango County include Warren County.
