[2]The Vermont Mirror (Middlebury, VT): "SENATOR. Agreeably to a previous vote, the Governor and Council attended in the House, when both branches of the Legislature proceeded to the choice of a Senator to represent this State in the Senate of the United States for six years from and after the 4th of March next. The Secretary to the Gov. and Council made report, that on counting the votes for Senator, the Hon. ISAAC TICHENOR had a majority of all the votes on the part of that body. The Sheriff of Jefferson County then made public proclamation of the appointment thus made by both houses. In the Council the Hon. Isaac Tichenor had all the votes. In the House, the votes were, for Hon. Jonathan Robinson, 83, Gen. Strong, 7, Scattering, 1 - 91 - Hon. Isaac Tichenor, 111 - Majority, 20."
