[6]This election was for Delegates to the Continental Congress while the nation was in transition from the Articles of Confederation to the government under the newly adopted Constitution. As Congress, under the Articles of Confederation, had adjourned on November 1, 1788, and this election was held on December 16, 1788, it is probable that these individuals never attended any Congressional sessions, as the new government was scheduled to convene in early April of 1789.
[7]The one vote for Zephaniah Platt was cast by Samuel Jones, another candidate, who cast it rather than vote for himself.
