[3]"At a distance, the friends of Republicanism will ask, Has Mifflin county, so noted ever since her establishment as the firm and fast friend of Democracy, become Federal? The loss of the Election is to be attributed to the conduct of Mr. John Cummin, who, dissatisfied with the result of the Delegation, offered himself as a candidate for the Legislature, and ran nearly all the votes of Milford, Turbett, and Lack Townships dead. And, what appears most strange in the conduct of Mr. Cummin, he opposed the Election of Mr. Bond, the Republican candidate for Commissioner, with the same zeal as he did that of Messrs. Reynolds and Evans." Lancaster Intelligencer (Lancaster, PA). October 27, 1821.
