[2]In the 7th District, Samuel Purivance, a Federalist, was supported by the Republicans. The Raleigh Register, and North-Carolina Weekly Advertiser (Raleigh, NC) throughout the campaign ran an endorsement of Purivance, who was considered to be a moderate Federalist and much more acceptable than the incumbent, Mr. William B. Grove.
