[2]Joseph Dane, a Councillor who was elected on May 30, 1818, submitted a letter on June 9th declining to accept a seat on the Council and another election was held to fill that vacancy.
[3]"Thursday, June 11 - The two Houses in Convention proceeded to the choice of an Executive Counsellor, in the room of Joseph Dane, Esq. declined. The whole number of votes collected was 135 - of which the Hon. James Bridge, of Augusta, had 69 and was chosen." Hampshire Gazette and Public Advertiser (Northampton, MA). June 16, 1818.
