In the Senate, the vacancy in the Presidential chair, occasioned by the death of the late venerable Lieutenant-Governor Broome, was filled by the election of the hon. John Tayler. There were twenty-five Senators present, of whom twenty-one voted for Mr. Taylor, two for Mr. Lewis, who was not a candidate, and two blank votes." The Albany Register (Albany, NY).
