[8]"From the Ontario Repository (Canandaigua, NY). The Election - We deem it necessary to give a particular statement of the votes given in this county at the late election. Indeed it would be difficult in insert a table in the usual form, on account of the unusual number of candidates, whose names got into the ballot box. And from the indifference manifested by the great body of the people of the county, it is not probable they would take the trouble to examine such a statement." The Albany Gazette (Albany, NY). May 19, 1818.
[9]"We stated in our last, that there were three assembly tickets in the county; the first was called the Regular ticket, because it was made up at a regular county convention - although, according to the accounts given of it, there was very little of regularity in its proceedings. This ticket was composed of the following persons: Bryan Green, Asahel Warner, William Billinghurst, John A. Steven, Eli Hill, Michael Mussleman and Timothy Barnard, jun. The second, or Independent Ticket, consisted of Bryan Green, Myron Holley, Valentine Brother, Nathaniel Case, John Van Fossen, William MacCartney and Elijah Spencer. The third ticket was formed by the good people in and about Rochester, who took such names from the two first, as they believed would be subservient to their views in a division of the county. It was a pretty scheme to get in their men; but not well calculated to secure their ultimate object." The Albany Gazette (Albany, NY). May 19, 1818.
[10]"The seven first named, (being five of the Regular and two of the Independent ticket) are elected." The Albany Gazette (Albany, NY). May 19, 1818.
[11]"The following statement of votes, for Members of the State Legislature and of the U. States Congress, given at the annual election, in this town and Williamson is all that we have as yet been able to collect." Palmyra Register (Palmyra, NY). May 5, 1818.
