[2]"On Monday last the General Assembly convened at the Capitol in Frankfort. The Senate, after being called to order, proceeded to the election of a Speaker. Gen. Ewing of Logan and Francis Johnson, Esq. of Warren, were the candidates. The votes stood as follows: For General Ewing 18, for Mr. Johnson 11. The former was accordingly declared duly elected."
