[1]"The Legislature have not yet elected a Senator of the U.S. to supply the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Mr. Stone. After the balloting noticed in our last, the names of Mr. Stanly and Mr. Pickens were withdrawn, are those of General Thomas Davis of Fayetteville, and Col. J. W.
