[8]The Committee on Privileges and Elections found discrepancies in the number of votes taken at three polling places for this election: at one polling place, six more votes were given than there were voters; at another polling place, two more votes were given than there were voters; and at another polling place, there were seven bad votes given. The bad votes votes were enough to swing the eclection, and a new election was ordered in which John Middleton was elected, and qualified on November 26, 1821.
