Alexander Hill is no doubt elected as one, and the county of Washington has to decide whether Mr. Clark or Mr. Patterson is to be the other." The Muskingum Messenger (Zanesville, OH). October 15, 1822. Despite these confident assertions of Alexander Hill's ineveitable victory, Hill, in fact, was not elected.
