Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]"Adams county has elected Major Galloway, a Republican, Sheriff. Major Galloway, though now a Republican, was formerly a Federalist. The reason of his seceding from the Party, may be looked for in the circumstance of his being called into the service of his Country, during the late War; when he was taken Prisoner by the British, at the Battle of Chippewa or Bridgewater. Here he saw the Indians scalp and murder captive Americans in cold blood, and British Officers viewing the scene with calm indifference. He was ill treated himself by British Officers. Since his return home, the Major has not acted with the Federal Party; nor will he probably, ever again act with a Party that justifies such conduct, in our Enemies, as he witnessed and experienced. The American Federalists, those few who voted for Major Galloway, deserve well of their Country." The Intelligencer, and Weekly Advertiser (Lancaster, PA). October 28, 1815.
