[7]In transcribing the results in Newtown, Queens County, the election official recording the votes listed Jonathan Dayton twice, once correctly as the Republican candidate for State Senator in the Southern District, and then incorrectly as the Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor. This mistake made its way into the Official Canvass, which reported 151 votes for Jonathan Dayton in Queens County for Lieutenant Governor. That is, however, incorrect, as the various newspaper returns for Queens County all reported that John Tayler, the Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor did in fact receive 151 votes in Newtown and 679 in the entire county.
