[10]"March Meeting - On Monday the annual meeting for the choice of town officers was held in this town. .... The Town having voted to choose nine Selectmen, it was voted, that the polls should be kept open until twelve o'clock. .... About one o'clock the Committee reported to the Moderator, that they found the whole number of votes given in, to be 2293 - of which 1147 were necessary to constitute a choice and that there were 1179 whole ticket for ..... and that these gentlemen were therefor chosen. they composed the Board the last year; with the exception of Mr. Shaw.... The committee have since sorted the scattered votes, and the result is, that of the whole number (2293) the successful, old ticket, has as follows:" Columbian Centinel.
