Notes:

[1]This election for the twenty fifth representative was held on Saturday May 18, 1823. As no candidate had the required number of votes to be elected and the Constitution barred further trials, the representation for Boston remained at twenty four members.
[2]"The votes cast were 2277 - of which 1138 were necessary to make a choice." Columbian Centinel (Boston, MA). May 21, 1823.
[3]"Mr. Knapp, who had been voted for on the first trial, having declined, Isaac Winslow, Esq. was nominated, and also declined; but the information of both the declinations did not reach all the Wards until after the balloting commenced. No Federal candidate was therefore proposed, who had not declined; and there being no concert, there was of course no choice." Columbian Centinel (Boston, MA). May 21, 1823.
[4]"There were 47 votes for other persons, no one having more than seven." Columbian Centinel (Boston, MA). May 21, 1823.

[6]The American Statesman and City Register (Boston, MA) lists the votes as: Jacob Hall 943 votes, Isaac Winslow 498 votes, Samuel L. Knapp 456 votes, Benjamin West 112 votes, George Sullivan 85 votes and 103 scattering votes.
