Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]Massachusetts law required a majority to elect for the U.S. House of Representatives. No candidate received a majority in the general election that took place on November 3, 1800.
[3]"In our last we erred in casting the votes published. But if correctly added the votes then printed would have exhibited no choice. A shrewd contemporary Editor charges us with design and ignorance in the same error. But in his accurate schedule we find mistakes sufficient, to enable us, without absurdity, to retort the charges. The Editors of the Chronicle very magnanimously notice the trifling arithmetical mistake above alluded to, and affect to offset their mountain of errors, by pointing out a few motes in the federal papers. If we mistake not they met with a similar accident a short time since with that they now complain of in the Centinel, i.e. omitted a part of the speech of an executive officer. When the Centinel apology is made let it be contrasted with the Chronicle one." New-England Palladium (Boston, MA). March 17, 1801.
