[3]"In Council. Philadelphia, Jan. 17, 1789. A return of the general election of sheriffs and coroners held in and for the county of Washington, in October, 1788, was received and read, and David Williamson, Esq., thereupon appointed and commissionated sheriff, and Robert Benham coroner of the said county. William Parker and Josiah Scott, of the county of Washington, were offered and accepted as sureties for the said David Williamson's faithful performance of the duties of his office of sheriff for the county aforesaid according to law."
