[5]The official election certificate from Hunterdon County lists George Maxwell and Thomas Capner each receiving the same vote. However, George Maxwell asserted in a petition presented to the General Assembly that a rejected vote from him in the township of Readington should have been counted. The Legislature agreed with his petition and he was declared the elected member.
