Notes:

[1]"Another unsuccessful trial has been had for this office. It was supposed that, at the second election, the people of the county would interest themselves so far as to put an end to the contest between several candidates. But this has not been the case. Not more than half the voters have taken any interest in the event, and the county will be put to the expense and trouble of a new election." Thomas's Massachusetts Spy, or, Worcester Gazette (Worcester, MA). September 4, 1816.
[2]"A new election is ordered on the first Monday of November, the day when Representatives to Congress are to be chosen." The National Aegis (Worcester, MA). September 18, 1816.
