[2]"On Wednesday last the legislature of Pennsylvania by joint ballot, elected Dr. George Logan, senator of the United States in the room of Peter Muhlenberg, resigned...All of the above gentlemen are republican. Every vote, therefore given was of that complexion." Georgia. The Augusta Chronicle and Gazette of the State (Augusta, GA). January 2, 1802.
[3]The True American and Commercial Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) lists Isaac Weaver with 2 votes.
[4]There were 4 members of the legislature who did not vote, 2 from the Senate and 2 from the House of Representatives.
[5]"The sentorial question was settled by an election held on December 16, 1801. Logan was chosen with 68 votes; but Joseph Heister received the ballots of thirty members, including nineteen Federalists and eight of the Republicans who had voted for Muhlenberg in February. Nine additional votes were cast for Isaac Weaver, Samuel Maclay, Nathaniel B. Boileau, and John Kean. More Republicans had voted against Logan than in the preceding election, and they had had Federalist support; but this time they were not criticized." Higginbotham, Sanford W.
