[4]Vote totals for John Hahn vary by source according to reported votes for Northampton County.
[5]"We learn that owing to the returns of some of the votes not having been made in season, Mr. Milnor will lose his election, and Doct. Hahn will have his seat." The Luzerne Federalist: and Susquehannah Intelligencer (Wilkes-Barre, PA). October 31, 1806. However, this is not the case, and actually "William Milnor, Robert Brown, and John Pugh, (the first of whom is a constitutionalist) are elected members of Congress from this district." is reported previously by Luzerne Federalist, October 24, 1806.
[6]"N.B. The above persons [Brown, Milnor, and Pugh] have the greatest number of votes, including the returns made by the judges on Friday and Saturday the 17th and 18th of October 1806~ exclusive of several districts in the counties of Northampton and Wayne, which were not returned until Saturday the 18th of October 1806, Dr. John Hahn would have a greater number of votes that John Pugh (say a majority of 252 votes)." Original Returns.
[7]"A few votes were given for members of Congress. But as the Citizens of the other Counties did not think proper to consult us relatively to the proper persons to be held up as candidates--the people here did not think proper to trouble themselves to vote for the candidates, whom they, very dictatorially, had been pleased to nominate." The Luzerne Federalist: and Susquehannah Intelligencer (Wilkes-Barre, PA). October 24, 1806.
[8]Votes for John Hahn in Northampton County vary according to source. Original Returns and the Aurora. General Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 29 list Hahn with 1051 votes. The Der Readinger Adler (Reading, PA) from October 21 lists Hahn with 1041 votes and Aurora. General Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 29 lists Hahn with 1035 votes. The Northampton Farmer from October 18 and Der Eastoner-Deutsche Patriot, und Landmanns Wochenblatt (Easton, PA) from October 22 list Hahn with 1042 votes and reports township totals. The differences in Northampton County account for the different totals reported [4741 and 4750 votes] in the congressional district.
[9]The votes from one, unnamed district in Wayne County are reported in the Aurora. General Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 22.
