[2]"Monday, January 11th. The clerk laid before the house a letter from the honorable William Logan late speaker thereof and a member from Lincoln, announcing the resignation of the chair and his seat in the house, ... it was then signified as the pleasure of the house that they immediately proceed to the election of a speaker, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation aforesaid. A majority of votes present being in favor of Henry Clay, he was declared duly elected." The Palladium (Frankfort, KY). January 21, 1808.
