[1]Jefferson and Lewis Counties were formed from Oneida county on March 28, 1805. According to the bill that created the counties, "in the distribution of representation in the assembly of this state, there shall be three members in the county of Oneida, and one in the counties of Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence, any law to the contrary notwithstanding."
