[3]"Messrs. Niles and Frailey- By publishing the annexed extract of a letter from Somerset county, Eastern Shore, you will oblige. A subscriber. 'Somerset, Sept. 7, 1806. 'I wrote you on Wednesday last, immediately on the close of the polls for this county, (per mail) but least you should not receive that letter as soon as I could wish. I send you by captain- another statement, which you will please publish directly in the Evening Post. It will show the growth of Republicanism in this county the last 5 years. In the year 1801, Judge Polk (republican) had only 96 votes, for elector in the senate.'" Baltimore Evening Post (Baltimore, MD). September 13, 1806.

The result thereof will show the growth of republicanism here, since the year 1801, at which time only 96 votes were then given in favor of the republican candidate, the present Chief Justice of the District, in whose talents and integrity the utmost confidence could always be placed.
