Notes:

[1]"For County Treasurer, in 15 of these towns [Barnstead, Barrington, Dover, Durham, Madbury, Middleton, Milton, Moultonboro, New-Hampton, Ossipee, Sandwich, Somersworth, Strafford, Wakefield, Wolfboro] the votes are for William Barker, 1232, William Woodman, 1039, scattering (Dudley Ladd and Samuel Nowell) 228." New Hampshire Republican (Dover, NH). March 19, 1823.
[2]"Among other tricks of the Butterfly editor at Dover, was a cunning expedient to run down The republican candidate for County Treasurer in Strafford. Tickets with the name of William Woodman, who is cashier of the Bank at Dover, were circulated through the county; and many ballots were cast for Mr. Woodman before the electors were conscious that he was a candidate. The highest number of votes fixes the choice; and, to help Mr. Woodman to the highest number, tickets for other persons than the regular candidate were distributed in other parts of the district." New-Hampshire Patriot and State Gazette (Concord, NH). March 24, 1823.
