Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]The summary sheet of the Original Election Returns lists Isaac Spencer with 34 votes, omitting the votes for him in Windham County.
[3]"The result of the election for Secretary, as it regards Mr. Seymour, is much more favorable than could have been expected, considering that he was supported only by this paper, and was zealously opposed where party authority was vested, although this authority first sanctioned the nomination, and pledged its aid in support of it. Had not certain men been guilty of a breach of faith, of violating the obligations of truth and justice, and resorting to the most unjustifiable measures to defeat the election of one who is popular in the party, and who has always adhered to and supported it, both in its adversity and its prosperity, the election would not have terminated as it has - a federalist would not have been chosen, loaded with other offices as he is, in preference to one who has heretofore been looked upon as the proper person to fill that office. We can not spend time in remarking further upon the conduct of these men; it is known and will be remembered. That we have not mistaken the wishes of republicans generally in offering Mr. Seymour as a candidtae for Secretary, is evident from the number of votes he has received, and will appear still more so, when we show what proportion it bears to the whole number of republican votes given. To do this, needs but very little arithmetical calculation. The increase of votes on the ballot for Secretary, was occasioned by the federalists voting - if this is not sufficiently proved by the circumstance that the gentleman nominated for that office is a federalist, it can be so by referring to the official returns, whereby it may be seen that in the federal towns where they succeeded in the election of representatives, Mr. Day received a large vote, and in many of these, it is known that Mr. Seymour was voted for by the republicans, almost unanimously. Further, the scattering votes given for Treasurer, are federal - of this no proof is necessary." The Times and Hartford Advertiser (Hartford, CT). April 23, 1822.
[4]There were no votes recorded in Redding.
[5]There were no votes recorded in Ridgefield.
[6]"Notwithstanding the zealous opposition made by certain republicans to Mr. Seymour, on the ground of his not being regularly nominated, and their active support of Mr. Day, it cannot be doubted that a majority of the republicans were in favor of Mr. Seymour." The Times and Hartford Advertiser (Hartford, CT). April 9, 1822.
[7]The votes for Asa Willey in Norfolk appear under the tally of Andrew Kingsbury in the Original Election Returns.
[8]There were no votes recorded in Branford.
[9]There were no votes recorded in Milford.
[10]The 3 votes for Isaac Spencer in Windham County do not appar on the summary sheet of the Original Election Returns.
[11]There were no votes recorded in Canterbury.
[12]There were no votes recorded in Windham.
