[4]"In Litchfield, a strong hold of federalism, on our late fall election, the republican interest gained a decisive and important victory. The leading candidates were Messrs. Kirby and Allen. And on the poll the statement of votes was thus -- whole number 395, of whom Mr. Kirby had 265, or 185 more than all the other candidates together. Mr. Welsh who was left out of the commission as a justice, at the last session of the assembly, for taking the BEE, and other similar offences, is the second deputy." Aurora.
