Notes:
[1]Elected.
[2]"On Monday evening the vote for a representative of the counties of Franklin and Owen was as follows: 191 votes for Marshall, 190 votes for Dudley, 78 votes for George, and 70 votes for McBrayer." Argus of Western America (Frankfort, KY). October 29, 1823.
[3]This election received so much attention because Humphrey Marshall was a well known Federalist. James McBrayer and Mr. George might have withdrew or declined so the Republican votes on the second and third days would not be split between three candidates, especially since those first day returns have Marshall ahead.
[4]"The election in this county and Owen to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of Gen. Hardin, was closed on Wednesday last... Mr. Marshall's majority, three votes only." The Weekly Messenger (Russellville, KY). November 8, 1823.
[5]Election held on October 27, 1823.
