[3]The United States' Gazette (Philadelphia, PA) from October 3 lists John Purdon as a "Democratick" candidate for Inspector who received one vote. The paper also lists Joseph S. Lewis with 83 votes and Joseph Lownes with 82 votes. Both The Freeman's Journal, and Philadelphia Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 5 and The Democratic Press (Philadelphia, PA) from October 3 list no opposition to Joseph S. Lewis and Joseph Lownes. The Freeman's Journal, and Philadelphia Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) lists Joseph S. Lewis with 81 votes and Joseph Lownes with 80 votes. The Democratic Press (Philadelphia, PA) states only that "the federal candidate had 80 votes."
