[6]The two Isaac Sutherlands listed are two different individuals. One elector came from Dutchess County, and the other from Genesee County.
[7]Isaac Smith was elected an elector and is listed by the United States Telegraph, but did not vote. "On calling over the list of electors, it appeared that Isaac Smith was absent, being detained a few miles from Harrisburg by sickness: his vacancy was supplied by choosing James Clarke, of Westmoreland in his place. Some discussion arose on this subject, Mr. Beatty suggesting that the vacancy ought to be filled by the selection of an original friend of General Jackson, and moving that a written pledge should be required from Mr. Clark (sic) that he would vote for the General. This was opposed by Mr. M'Caraher of Philadelphia county, and Mr. Engle of Deleware county, who said that it was enough for them to know that Mr. Clarke was a friend to General Jackson, and would vote for him. Mr Beatty's motion was negatived, only five rising in its favour. Mr Murray and Mr. Engle were appointed tellers: The balloting then took place, and the result was that Andrew Jackson received all the votes of Pennsylvania for President, and John C. Calhoun, all the votes for Vice President." American Volunteer (Carlisle, PA). December 9, 1824.
[8]One elector from Rhode Island did not cast a vote for Vice President. No known record exists of which elector this was.
