[2]The Tellers (consisting of a Member from each Council) having reported, that John Geyer had twenty-one Votes, Robert Wharton four Votes, and John Baker four Votes, the President of the Select Council declared, that John Geyer was duly elected Mayor of the City of Philadelphia for the ensuing year. Whereupon, James Vanuxem of the Select Council, and John Malony of the Common Council were deputed to inform Mr. Geyer of his election, who having returned, reported, that Mr. Geyer, sensible of the honour done him by the Select and Common Councils, accepted of the office conferred upon him."
