Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]Official Results only list the total state vote. Town and county totals, derived from newspaper sources, do not add up to the state totals.
[3]"On Tuesday last, the annual meeting was holden throughout this state for the choice of State, County and Town officers. Although the travelling was bad, a laudable number of citizens, impressed with the importance of the crisis, attended the places of election, and gave in their independent suffrages." (Walpole NH), March 16.
[4]"On account of the activity, and arts of demagogues, we cannot but have some apprehensions respecting the issue of the election for Governor. We understand that one thousand of the Observatory, over and above the usual number, were struck off and circulated the second week before the election. From report, we can judge that the enemies of Governor Gilman were never more alert than previous to the late meetings;--from our own observation, we can alert that we never saw them exhibit more address, and cunning in the cause in which they are engaged. We still, however, trust and believe that Governor Gilman is reelected. In this town Governor Gilman has only one vote less than in March last, and Mr. Langdon has thirteen less! We have uniformly held up this idea, which is confirmed by every annual meeting that the stable and consistent friends of Governor Gilman, remain the same, unmoved;--and that the occasional increase of democratic votes is produced by an appeal to the vilest of the passions of our deluded fellow citizens, and by extraordinary industry in the democratic party to seduce and bring over men of little reflection or consideration. This sentiment we think is confirmed by recurring to the annual statement of votes for a year or two past." Farmer's Weekly Museum (Walpole NH), March 16.
[5]"We congratulate every honest American, on the evident change of sentiments manifested by the Citizens of this too long devoted State--on the dispersion of the mist of Federalism ad the bright rising of the sun of Freedom. Our present returns, when compared with those of last year, are a pleasing testimony of this truth, and not a shadow of a doubt remains but our worthy patriot Col. Langdon will be elected by a very handsome majority and that the sun of Toryism is set 'never to rise again.'" New Hampshire Gazette, March 19.
[6]"Our fellow citizens of the county of Cheshire, particularly, are congratulated on the stability and firmess which they have maintained at their elections for eighteen months past, and which they still retain. Considering that Cheshire has been the hotbed of the exertions of Democracy; that it is from this spot that the Bohon Upas has spread its poisonous emanations; that in this section of our hemisphere the dogstar of Democracy has constantly shed its damp, baleful influence, we certainly have reason to rejoice that they have had little if any deleterious effect upon our county; that the plants intended to have been cherished and ripened have been nipped in the bud; that the injurious quality of the Upas has been much confined within its own branches, and that the blessings of a serene government under a wise and worthy character have been duly appreciated." Farmer's Weekly Museum (Walpole NH), March 23.
[7]"New Hampshire erect! The flimsy veil, which an aspiring and ambitious faction, had spread to delude the Inhabitants of this State, is rent in twain;--this removed, it has shewn the hidious face of Federalism (so called) and the petty arts and mean subterfuges made use of to support this faction. The momentary shade cast over the measures and characters of Republicans in and candidates for public offices, is no more; no sooner was this removed and their real characters known, than they rose in the estimation of the public in proportion as their slanderers became despised and execrated. Thus it is that the present election will yield the Republican candidate no less than a majority of 3000 votes. All federal hopes must be at an end;--they cannot expect to obliterate past actions; they are forever banished from the esteem of the citizens of New Hampshire, who, now they are alive to their best interests, will no longer chuse as their rulers, men who court their contempt. Citizens of New Hampshire, ye deserve well of your country! posterity will bless your return to order and truth! Your children already lisp your praises;--they hail you as their deliverer from corrupt principles and bad men. May it be your boast to continue stedfast in your zeal for the public and individual good. You have earned--may you enjoy, the blessings of freedom; but enjoy them with moderation;--be aware of licentiousness--give not your enemies this triumph nor yield your concience the power of reproach!" New-Hampshire Gazette (Portsmouth, NH), March 26.
[8]"But few returns of votes for Governor have been received since our last; those that have come to hand, afford a pleasing testimony of the rapid decline of federalism. Much did the federalists boast of their strength in those towns situated on Connecticut River, and after the neighbouring towns to Portsmouth had given evident proofs of their return to sound and genuine Republicanism; Connecticut River 'would set all to rights--Gilman was their man' although disappointed in the latter of their assertions;--little did they expect the former would prove so nearly true; for indeed Connecticut River 'will set all to rights' in time--they have changed much for the better already and we have no doubt but they will persevere in well doing. Much pains and no less perseverance has been needed to crush the monster federalism, but the victory is compleat and we triumph in the thought that we have not 'bestowed our labour in vain.'" New-Hampshire Gazette (Portsmouth, NH), April 2.
[9]"GOOD NEWS from New Hampshire. We feel a real satisfaction in announcing the election of that illustrious, tried patriot the Hon. JOHN LANGDON, as Governor of New-Hampshire, by a majority of THREE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND TEN votes. The Governor's Council is composed of FOUR Republicans, and one Federalist.--In the Senate, EIGHT Republicans, and four Federalists.--In the House of Representatives, NINETY-NINE Republicans, and fifty-one Federalists. This speaks, in accents loud, to our federal rulers in Massachusetts, 'BE YE ALSO READY.' One short year will close your inglorious career--and the sun of federalism, we trust, be set forever." Kennebunk Gazette, June 12.
