Seven ballots were cast on November 13th, twelve ballots were cast on November 14th, and three more ballots were cast on November 15th before John W. Taylor was finally elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives. John W. Taylor filled the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Henry Clay of Kentucky.
