Notes:

[1]Massachusetts law required a majority to elect for the U.S. House of Representatives. The original election was held on November 1, 1824. A 3rd Trial, to be held on April 4, 1825, was ordered because no election was held in the towns of Holland and South Brimfield.
[2]"In Hampden District, the Hon. Samuel Lathrop received a majority of all the votes returned; but the Council have determined that the election is void, it being proved that one town at least, and probably two, received no precepts for a choice and held no meetings; the precepts having miscarried after being delivered by the Sheriff of Hampden to one of his deputies. This decision of the Council is in accordance with a former decision under Gov. Brook's administration. Precepts have been issued for a new election in Worcester South and Hampden Districts, on the first Monday in April." Boston Patriot and Daily Mercantile Advertiser (Boston, MA). February 22, 1825.

[5]"Singular Occurrence. - We are credibly informed that a meeting of the town of Chester, was duly warned to vote for Representative in Congress, on Monday last. Notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, a large number of the inhabitants assembled, but as only one selectman was present to receive and count the votes, they were not received, and the electors returned to their homes without having the opportunity to exercise their rights." Hampden Journal (Springfield, MA). January 5, 1825.
