Notes:
[1]Elected.
[2]"Returns having been received at the Secretary of State's office, from all the counties, it appears that Daniel P. Cook is elected from this state to the Seventeenth Congress, by a majority of 3,060 votes over Elias K. Kane, the opposing candidate." Philadelphia Union. October 6, 1820.
[3]The above statement includes Jefferson County, but not Alexander and Wayne, both carried by Elias K. Kane. These two missing counties, along with a handful of votes allowed both candidates due to incorrect spellings reduces Cook's majority to 2,964 votes.
[4]The returns in the work of Theodore C. Pease have the votes in Edwards County switched. Newspaper reports stated that Elias K. Kane only carried the counties of Alexander, Crawford, and Wayne.
[5]Elias K. Kane received one vote as E. K. Kane.
[6]Returns from one precinct were rejected for informality.
