[1]"The bill appointing Calvin Willey, Senator of the U. States came back from the Senate amended by the insertion of the name of John S. Peters. Committeee of conference appointed. Particulars will be given in our next. A committee of conference had been appointed on the part of this House, since which the Senate had again acted upon the bill and determined to adhere to their vote, appointing John. S. Peters. A motion was made to re-consider and concur with the Senate. The vote was taken by ballot, and the House refused to re-consider and concur with the Senate. The House then proceeded to ballot for a Senator to serve in Congress six years from the 4th of March next. The whole number of votes was 192. Necessary to a choice: 97. The Senate voted again this afternoon for U.S. Senator. The result was, for Calvin Willey 5 votes -- Elisha Phelps 5." Connecticut Mirror (Hartford, CT). June 7, 1824.
