Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]Without knowing the results of Tyrell County, or Hyde County outside of the townships of Mattamuskeet and Pantego, Thomas Blount had a lead of 1398 to 1273 votes. He determined that he needed 200 out of 500 remaining votes to win by 25. He received 210 out of 615 remaining votes and lost by 70.
[3]The Raleigh Register, and North-Carolina State Gazette (Raleigh, NC) of August 22, 1803, lacking the results of Tyrell and Hyde County, expected Thomas Blount to be elected "as it was expected that the majority in favour of Mr. Kennedy in Tyrrel, would be met by an equal majority in Hyde for Col. Blount. This, it is well known, is not an election on principle, both candidates being Republicans."
